Is there a universal and/or generic default gateway address in IPv4?
I’m looking for something similar to the way you can always reference a NICs IP address from itself with
127.0.0.1regardless of any other factors, making deployments much simpler with many machines over many networks, since you don’t have to keep track of the individual IP anymore in many situations.In my case, I’m deploying numerous machines over many different networks, and it would be very handy if there was a way to reference the default gateway similarly, without needing to manually keep track of which network is which. The scripts I’m writing for deployment would greatly benefit from such a feature, and would be much easier to use and maintain.
