I literally added a period(.) in the tomcat/conf/server.xml file, restarted Tomcat, and got the above error.
That was expected.. But after I remove the period, save and restart Tomcat, the error persists.
This happened before, and I had to rely on a backup. Now I’m just trying to find out why I can’t edit the server.xml file, so I can continue learning.
I’m running Tomcat 8 on Ubuntu 14.04. All Webapps were working before the edit. And I’m not using an IDE.
