DPM Setup is unable to update the report server configuration to configure e-mail settings. (ID: 3040)

On my System Center 2019 Data Protection Manager Server (with Update Rollup 2 installed) I try to enable e-mail notifications. Whenever I click on OK after entering all details in the SMTP Server tab, I get the following error message:

DPM Setup is unable to update the report server configuration to configure e-mail settings. (ID: 3040)

Log on to <MY-SERVERNAME>. On the Start menu, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft SQL
Server, point to Configuration Tools, and then click Reporting Services Configuration. In
Configure Report Server, update the e-mail settings.

Nearly as suggested, in the start menu, I go to Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, click on Report Server Configuration Manager and then change my e-mail settings. After applying the changes, I get a positive notification.

But I am still not able to apply the settings inside the SMTP Server options tab of the System Center 2019 DPM Administrator Console. The same error message will appear.

After entering all details into the SMTP Server tab, I can successfully send a test e-mail. So the entered configuration is working and correct. But I cannot apply the changes, so that automatic notifications will work.

I found similar threads on the internet, which did not help so far:

Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this problem?
