Dot1x and Ubuntu on a non-dot1x wired interface

I am the administrator on a corporate network. I have set up dot1x, with MAB if dot1x fails efter 6 seconds, on the corporate network and everything works perfectly with Windows 10 and MacOS. Some of our users is running Ubuntu or other Linux or Unix system.

When I have configuresd dot1x (PEAP/MCHAPv2 with no CA required) it works with the networksport we have configured Dot1x.
The problem I have is when we use the computer on a non-dot1x port. After I have looked in Wirehark I can see that it appear to be waiting for a EAP-frame from the switch.

Any idea how I can reduce the timeout on the client?
or add some script to “wpa_supplicant/functions.sh” to turn off/on Dot1x when it fails/timeout?
